1. 3rd Annual Wine, Women, and Football hosted by Volunteers of America

This event was everything I would’ve wished for! I got to hang out with Denver Broncos players Rod Smith, Joel Dreessen, Demaryius Thomas, Willis McGahee, and Britton Colquitt, WHILE drinking wine, AND it was for a great cause: more overnight beds for the Denver Battered Women and Children’s Center. $55/ticket (a little pricey) but half of it was tax deductible. We even got to ask the guys “boxers or briefs?” ;) Really, no reason to not go! Check out the below link for next year’s event as well as plenty of other great up-and-coming benefits for the VOA.

  2. Oktoberfest Denver/ Das Hustlehoff 5k

There is, in fact, a race dedicated David Hasselhoff as Germany’s favorite TV star. Dawning Baywatch gear and lederhosen, participants run the streets for about 3.1 miles…no one takes it too seriously. Afterwards, you get to enjoy a free bier and participate in Oktoberfest festivities. A must do on my list! Follow their Facebook page for updates about next year’s 4th annual race: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Das-Hustlehoff-Run/112116876870?sk=info

  3. Lakeside Amusement Park? No, I wasn’t kidding. Most people my age grew up thinking a horrific accident occurred there where the roller coaster flew off the tracks into the lake. Turns out that that didn’t ACTUALLY happen. Unfortunately, the place has been like a ghost town since. Until the reemergence of the Highlands district…
While attending a Denver Film Society event, I got to experience Lakeside at a whole new level. I swear to God, the hipters are bringing it back! I had a blast on the old school rides—the ambiance SCREAMED perfect first date. Highly recommended.
Tips: Check out the Matterhorn (pictured below). Always a good time :)

  7. 303 Magazine PrideFest Special Edition Release Party + Fashion Show

Two weekends ago I went to the 1st annual Denver Fashion Weekend put on by 303 Magazine—it was a blast! You don’t normally see that kind of high fashion, catwalk situation in Denver. As soon as I saw the invite for this, I accepted because I’m guessing it’s going to be super cool as well. 21+

    PrideFest

    Tips:

-You can choose general admission or to have assigned seats for about double the price. Show up early and you can get a GA table and not have to spend the extra dough. I mean, the actual fashion show is only about 20 minutes.

-Dress to impress! Everyone is stylish and you can maybe even get your picture in the magazine ;)

    Where: Exdo Event Center

    Price: $20-$60

  9. Let’s play ball…

Ahh yes, it’s that season again. Time to kick back, relax, and watch some baseball. Sun, beers, and great views of Denver. I can’t imagine wanting to be anywhere else on a weekend. The best part: we actually have an awesome team—the Rockies are expected to do great this season. Go catch a home game next weekend Friday through Sunday versus the Cubs!

     Coors Field

Tips: Get Rockpile seats! They’re only $4 and a great time.

  10. Sunday Disco Brunch at The Corner Office

I’ve previously written about this particular location before, but this last weekend I accidentally discovered that it is definitely the COOLEST place to be in Denver on a Sunday. The Corner Office is already an awesome restaurant, but at the end of the weekend they take things a back a few years, or forty, for “Disco Brunch.”

    Glitter Lava Lamps

Not only does the restaurant feature all of the employees in 70’s gear, a DJ playing 70’s jams, and more lava lamps and disco balls than you could shake a stick at, but they have a $10/$15 bottomless Mimosa/Bloody Mary bar. I mean, what else do you need for that Saturday night hangover?

How’s the actual food though? Try the Southern style chicken and waffles or the coconut milk soaked French toast with avocado ice cream, and I’ll let you be the judge—two thumbs up from this girl.

    Can you dig it?
